Privacy policy

You never need an account to play. Signed out, nothing you do here is tied to an identity we hold.

Your progress, stats and streaks are stored in your browser's own storage. Signed out, none of it is sent to a Cluebox server, and we do not collect or share any personal data.

Advertising is switched off across the site today, and no advertising or tracking cookies are set while that stays true. If that ever changes, this page will be updated first, along with whatever consent it requires.

Signed out, clearing your site data or moving to a different browser or device erases your progress for good, because it only ever lived in that browser.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional, and uses Google or GitHub. From them we keep only their ID for your account and the name on it, so we can recognise you next time. We never see your password, and we do not ask for or store your email address.

While you are signed in, your puzzle progress is also saved on our server so it can reach your other devices. Stats and streaks are worked out from it on each device. A single cookie keeps you signed in; it is needed for the account to work and is not used for anything else.

Signing out ends the session on that device. Deleting your account, from the account page, removes the account, the sign-ins linked to it and every puzzle record stored with it, straight away. Progress already in a browser stays there until you clear it.
